SUMMARY:The questions to ask before using AI in digital health
DESCRIPTION:The focus is on typical challenges such as handling sensitive health data\, clarifying liability and responsibility\, and drawing the line between genuinely helpful support and impermissible automation. Participants will learn how data protection rules can be translated into simple decision‑making questions that they can systematically answer before deploying AI. The aim of the session is to build a shared understanding of how AI in can be used responsibly. At the same time\, the session highlights situations where additional governance\, contractual safeguards or technical protection measures are needed to ensure trust\, safety and compliance.

SUMMARY:Föderalismus unter Druck: Wie viel Bund\, wie viel Kanton in der Spitalplanung?
DESCRIPTION:This event examines a defining feature of Switzerland’s federal health system: 26 cantons\, 26 hospital lists and 26 needs-based plans. Hospital planning falls primarily to the cantons\, which coordinate among themselves and plan jointly for highly specialised medicine\, while the federal government increasingly shapes the legal framework. \nDoes cantonal autonomy deliver tailored\, needs-based care\, or does it lead to costly overcapacity\, unequal care quality and harder cooperation? The evening brings these perspectives together: Lukas Engelberger\, President of the Gesundheitsdirektorenkonferenz (GDK) and head of Basel-Stadt’s health department\, and Patrick Hässig\, National Councillor and GLP Vice-President\, open with short talks before joining Dino Cauzza\, CEO of Swiss Medical Network\, for a panel discussion\, followed by an apéro.

SUMMARY:Checklists applied: Compliance\, guidelines and legal requirements
DESCRIPTION:Organised by the Swiss Network on Safe Procedures\, this event focuses on checklists as a central tool for patient safety in surgical care – which only work if the whole team applies them consistently and their compliance is regularly measured. \nThe programme includes experience reports on monitoring compliance with the surgical checklist\, an interactive workshop on site-marking guidelines based on practical examples\, and a talk on the legal aspects of the surgical checklist by Prof. Franziska Sprecher\, Director of the Centre for Health Law and Management at the University of Bern\, followed by a Q&A. \nThe event addresses healthcare professionals involved in surgical safety and is held partly in German\, partly in French\, with translation into German\, French and Italian. \nRegistration takes place via the Swiss Network on Safe Procedures platform (safeprocedues.ch)\, where participants need to be registered to sign up.

SUMMARY:Swiss Gender Medicine Symposium
DESCRIPTION:Gender medicine has long answered the question of whether biological sex and gender play a role in health: the evidence is there. What remains is the harder task of translating that knowledge into clinical practice\, research structures and health policy – the focus of the Swiss Gender Medicine Symposium. Now in its second edition\, it brings together leading voices from clinical practice\, research and health policy\, from Switzerland and abroad. The programme is aimed at professionals in medicine\, research\, public health\, industry and politics\, and covers clinical guidelines\, global health\, men’s health\, medical education\, and AI and bias in big data. The symposium builds on a national initiative uniting Switzerland’s five medical faculties in gender medicine\, alongside the Swiss National Research Programme on gender medicine and health.

SUMMARY:Jahrestagung Plattform Qualitätsmedizin Schweiz
DESCRIPTION:Wir möchten Sie herzlich zur 15.

SUMMARY:Workforce Innovation Vol. I: Dienstplanung neu denken
DESCRIPTION:Workforce Innovation is a half-day event on rethinking shift and duty scheduling in healthcare\, with a focus on what makes scheduling solutions work in everyday practice. It is aimed explicitly at healthcare providers from hospitals\, clinics\, rehabilitation centres\, care homes and similar institutions. The event starts with an input from HR Campus\, which uses the challenges collected from participants in advance to show what should be clarified before introducing or switching a planning solution. A marketplace follows\, where various providers present their solutions. Instead of stage presentations\, the emphasis is on direct conversation: participants can ask questions\, compare approaches and make contacts. In thematic exchange islands\, the discussion then turns to skill and capacity management\, AI and forecasting\, and how new planning options change roles and collaboration. \nAttendance is free for dhc members; non-members pay CHF 85 including VAT.

SUMMARY:AQC-Tagung 2026: Qualität und Transparenz in Aktion
DESCRIPTION:The AQC conference “Quality and Transparency in Action” addresses the core of quality assurance and of internal and external transparency: efficiency and effectiveness. It asks what quality assurance and transparency are for if not their practical benefit\, and above all their benefit to patients. The programme includes talks on better support in choosing a physician through AI\, how much transparency is sensible\, and what transparency is needed in times of crisis. It also looks at how other fields approach transparency\, for example wine tasting\, and presents the background and winning project of the practiQprize awarded by the T-Stiftung. A discussion on what actually helps practitioners rounds off the event.

SUMMARY:Integrales Kapazitätsmanagement und Personaleinsatzplanung im Gesundheitswesen
DESCRIPTION:This half-day seminar shows how hospitals can plan capacity and staff deployment in a more forward-looking way. Many hospitals still plan in a decentralised and reactive manner\, with static capacity allocation and locally managed patient flows. Using selected examples and project results\, the seminar presents data- and model-based methods from operations management – from strategic and tactical decisions to operational control. Topics include the limits of classical planning\, shift and duty scheduling with AI support and staff participation\, operating theatre planning and bed management\, and an ongoing Innosuisse project on simulation-based optimisation of patient flows. It is aimed at specialists and managers in capacity and bed management\, OR planning\, staff scheduling and healthcare process management\, and leaves room for open discussion on participants’ own questions.
